Like many other events these days, the #BlockchAngelChallenge Winner Announcement Ceremony was held virtually. October 7 was the final step of the challenge which for us started back in July, when we applied for that international competition.

On the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic, three organizations (the Everis Foundation, The Inter  American Development Bank and the LACChain global alliance) launched a call for projects that use blockchain technology to prevent, mitigate and control violence, against women, children, and the elderly. Unfortunately while the lockdown was the only way to curb the spread of the virus, stay-at-home orders, intended to protect the public left many victims trapped with their abusers and, all over the world, the number of family violence incidents dramatically escalated.

53 projects from 16 different countries entered the competition.

Projects had to show how their solutions would help achieve:

– no more vulnerability

– no more stigma

– no more solitude

– no more impunity for assaulters

Being selected amongst the 7 finalists and invited to the September 30 final pitch contest was already a great privilege for us.  Winning the competition comes with the profound feeling that our solution is seen as creating value and with the potential of making a difference in the fight against an unacceptable scourge, striking society globally.

A year ago, in October 2019 we were in Dublin for the Social Innovation Tournament organized by the European Investment Bank Institute. 168 projects had competed, 15 finalists had pitched and we won the Tournament for the general category. The adventure continues and this year we are so proud to get recognized by innovation and blockchain organizations based in Americas.

We want to express our full gratitude to all the people and organizations who have supported us since April 2019. This journey would not have been what it is without the faith you have placed in us.
